With our four brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and BMW Motorrad, we are the world’s leading manufacturer of premium automobiles and motorcycles. We also provide premium financial and mobility services.
Our success is based on long-term thinking and responsible action, as well as ecological and social sustainability at local, national and international level: As a global company, we operate 31 production and assembly facilities in 15 countries and we have a global sales network in more than 140 countries.
The UK is the only place in the world where BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars are represented by manufacturing operations. In addition to our manufacturing sites located in Oxford, Hams Hall, Swindon and Goodwood, our Farnborough offices host our UK Sales and Marketing divisions, as well as Financial Services, Leasing and Fleet Management departments.
The BMW Group is committed to providing everyone with the opportunity to grow and develop their career in our exciting and rewarding industry. We employ around 8,000 people directly in the UK, with an additional 16,000 through our retailer network.
Cranfield has over 60 years’ experience in the automotive and motorsport sectors with excellent industrial links and an outstanding record for the employment of our graduates (UK no.2 for graduate employment*).
Our close contacts with industry mean we equip students with the knowledge and opportunities to develop a successful future career whether this is in mainstream automotive, motorsports or off-highway/military. Our courses have been developed in partnership with industry to provide high-calibre engineers that are equipped with the necessary skills to advance vehicle technology to meet the demands of the future.
In an increasingly interconnected world, we specialise in understanding the whole environment in which transport operates: the vehicles, infrastructure, businesses and logistics, as well as the human aspects of operating, managing and using transport. Our education and award-winning research cover all modes of vehicles and transport across technology, engineering and management, including sustainable transport and intelligent mobility.
Our world-class facilities include an off-road vehicle dynamics facility, a Crash Impact Test Centre (one of just two FIA approved test centres in the world), our Intelligent Mobility Engineering Centre (IMEC). We also have a Multi-User Environment for Autonomous Vehicle Innovation facility which is a £9 million ‘smart’ roadway test environment for the development of intelligent and autonomous vehicles.

We are Newton.
We’re a team of the brightest and most curious minds with a fundamental belief that every organisation can be better.
We crack some of the toughest business and public sector challenges of the day. Not with reports or copy and paste thinking. But by pinpointing and implementing the changes that will make the biggest difference – and then guaranteeing our fees against delivering measurable results.
We never start out assuming we know the answer, but we’re always certain we’ll find it and see it through to the finish. By uncovering the data that means the most important decisions are made with facts, not opinions. By bringing together people who live and breathe delivering results. And by embedding in client organisations this same passion, self-belief and know-how to thrive on any challenge in the future.
We demand better in everything we do. We think you should too.
