Lydia Amarquaye

Education Policy Advisor

Lydia works with the Chief Engineer and the IMechE’s Education Member groups to develop policy positions and education strategy for the Institution. Lydia is also the Institution’s Professional Development Advisor, working with the Membership, Accreditation and Professional Development Team to bring engineering counsel for decision making.

Lydia’s engineering journey started with the EDT’s Headstart programme, followed by a Year in Industry Placement at Delphi Technologies (formerly known as Delphi Diesel Systems). Following completion of her MEng in Mechanical Engineering at Brunel University, Lydia returned to Delphi Technologies, a Commercial Vehicle common rail fuel system manufacturer, as part of their graduate programme. Lydia completed placements within the Production, Control and Logistics Team, Manufacturing, Validation, and later became senior engineer within the Product Development Team.

Lydia has been an active volunteer for the Institution, firstly on the Manufacturing Industries Division Board, where she was part of a team to pioneer the Apprentice Automation Challenge. Lydia was also a member of the Young Members’ Board, becoming Chair in 2017. Playing an active role in ensuring the Board delivered on key objectives, Lydia has and continues to ensure that the Institution supports STEM activities both within the Institution and externally.
