Claire joined us as a Business Development Manager in 2005. Significant achievements during her career at the Institution include developing and launching the Bryan Hildrew Apprentice of the Year Award, which resulted in applications for registration from 50% of approved companies within the first year.

She studied for a degree in Business and Finance at Bournemouth University, and a certificate in e-markeing at the Institute of Direct Marketing before taking a year out to travel independently through South-East Asia and Australia.

Previous roles including working as a Marketing Manager for Informa Group, during which time she was responsible for managing a small team, creating marketing plans and strategies for up to 48 business conferences a year, initiating best practice standards and conducting market analysis.

In her role as Business Development Manager, Claire manages a team of two to maintain key relationships with major employers and universities in order to support the engineering community. This involves introducing potential new members to the Institution, from students and apprentices to engineers at all stages of their career, and promoting the benefits of professional registration through tailor-made in-house workshops, group presentations, seminars and events.

She advises individuals and companies on the most appropriate programmes to support the development of their engineers and takes candidates through the application process, from drafting a submission to preparing for interview. She also offers strategic guidance to active members via the regional committees, and supports the Institution’s volunteer network.
